We’re excited to announce the first Toronto event of the year, taking place on April 30th and May 1st, 2016!  We will once again be returning to the Best Western Plus in Milton Ontario.  Registration information will be forthcoming.

This event will be the traditional 1500 point tournament.

At this time we are working on plans for a second Toronto event later in the year with somewhat different format.  More details on this later in the year as we put it all together.

Our 13th annual Toronto event took place this past weekend.

Congratulations to Simon Cartmale who took this year’s Best Overall award!

The Result page can be found here including a complete scoring breakdown.

Thanks to everyone that attended this past weekend, and we hope to bring you news of a new Toronto event soon.
Special thanks to Dave, Jim, Nick, Milos, and Phoenix Games for helping provide terrain for this year’s event.
We would encourage our members and the community to consider sponsoring a table of terrain in the future.

Going over the results spreadsheet after the event, a data entry error was found, and once corrected changed the final score for Shane Phillips. This did not affect any of the awards which were handed out, but did put Shane into second place overall.  We apologize for this mistake and the results spreadsheet reflects the correction.

Congratulations on a great tournament, Shane.  We wish that you could have had the acknowledgement from everyone on Sunday evening, but hope that this public notice will in some way help make up for it.

Registration for this year’s Astronomi-con Toronto event is now open!

We have been debating the exact format of this year’s tournament for the past couple of weeks and have decided to go with a more traditional format which excludes Lords of War.

There are a few updates to the website which are still underway, so expect a few changes over the next little while, but we wanted to get registration open to allow everyone to get signed up and allow us to prepare for the event.

We would like to add some more sponsors to support this year’s event, by providing terrain, prizes, or both.  If you or your organization are interested in being a sponsor, please contact the organizers.

We look forward to seeing you this summer!

Astronomi-con Toronto – Filling Fast!

It has been less than two weeks since we opened registration for Toronto, and our projected 60 player capacity is already half filled!

We encourage players that are planning on attending to register soon to avoid disappointment.  Players that are planning on providing terrain for the event should contact the organizers.  Players that bring one or more tables worth of terrain are eligible to win the Best Terrain trophy.

As we are not local to Toronto, there is a limit to how much terrain we ourselves can bring with us, so we have relied on the local community to work with us to secure enough terrain for the event.

We are also looking for additional sponsors for prize support and to help promote this and future events!  If your organization or one that you know would be interested in supporting us and what we do, please contact us!

UPDATE: Venue information has been posted!  We’re excited to bring this year’s event to the Best Western Plus in Milton ON.

Getting ideas for new scenarios can often come from pop culture, history, or simply be inspired by a special piece of terrain, or other unique models.

Forgeworld had released their Imperial Moisture Condenser terrain piece, and that got the ball rolling…

Initially I had only a single Moisture Consdensor in my collection, but as time went on the idea of writing a scenario featuring these models was too compelling to ignore – so I got four more of them!  When writing this scenario we couldn’t resist theming it around a Moisture farm as first imagined in Star Wars Episode IV…

To keep on this theme, we opted to add in two Servitors… a tall golden one and a short blue one.  Mike found a couple of ancient servitor models, the short one, was originally a squat servitor.   With Mike’s customary great paint job, these models now became a fixture in the scenario.  We also went and built a main building for our moisture farm, and along with a few hills these made for a real immersive table.

While the scenario itself is relatively simple, we’ve given players a thematic mission to play, which is sure to be memorable, even if it is a bit tongue-in-cheek.

A new concept we added to this mission was that of ‘Optional’ mission special rules.   Using the servitors and their special rules in the mission is something that the players decide on before the game.   The Servitors add a fun dynamic, but are non-essential to the game itself, so we opted to give the players the choice if they wanted to incorporate them into their game or not!

The Vaporize scenario was featured at this year’s Toronto event and is available for free download here.   Enjoy!

New Scenarios

We’ve added a number of new v6 scenarios and in addition made some revisions to our existing ones.

Most of these will be used for our upcoming Toronto event, so it will be worthwhile to read them over, and also try them out.

We work very hard to cover all situations and clearly have them explain exactly what players are to do – but should any questions arise, or if you find any errors or omissions please send them our way for further clarification and fixes.

You can click the Scenarios link at the top of the page, or click here.

Astronomi-con Toronto – Room for a few more!

We’re a month away from our Toronto event and I’m pleased to say that we’ve reached the 60 player milestone!

We do have the ability to add a few more players, so if you still have a chance to be part of this year’s event.

A reminder that army lists should be sent to:
We’d like to have everyone send in their lists by the end of June so that we have time to go over them to ensure correctness, as well as to score composition.
Army lists should be submitted in the following formats:  HTML, PDF, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, TXT

For those with Army Builder, please save your roster as a PDF and send it our way.

Be sure to include the following information:

  Your Name
  Identify the Warlord
  Warlord Trait
The number of Psychic Powers and specific Disciplines for each psykers
Force Organization slot for each unit
  Points cost of each unit
Wargear options purchased for each unit

My fellow co-organizer Keith will likely have more to say on this subject as he’s taking care of verification and Composition scoring, but I wanted to give everyone a reminder at this point to get people thinking about their armies.
